It was a cold Tuesday evening when Mark pulled out his wallet. Inside was a crisp ten-dollar bill. That was it. His bank account was overdrawn, his rent was late, and his stomach was growling.

He had two choices: buy a cheap meal and survive another day, or do something completely irrational. As he walked past a small, locally-owned printing shop, an idea sparked. Instead of buying food, he walked in and spent his last $10 printing 100 simple, black-and-white flyers.

The flyers didn’t advertise a business. They simply read: ‘I will organize your garage, clean your yard, or build your IKEA furniture for $20. Hard worker. Call Mark.’ He spent the next four hours walking around the wealthiest neighborhood in his city, placing the flyers on doorknobs and windshields.

Within a week, Mark was fully booked. Within a month, he had to hire a friend to help him keep up with demand. Today, five years later, Mark owns a multi-million-dollar logistics company.
